Hurricanes Can Come In Bunches

It’s very easy to look at hurricanes strictly as a singular event. One hurricane is already overwhelming enough to think about, imagine having to think about multiple storms in such a short stretch of time.

Unfortunately that has become a reality in recent history.

Last year Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, & Maria were all dealing the height of their damage just weeks apart in the month of September. Last year’s hurricane season caused around 282 billion dollars worth of damage and the bulk of that came from these three major storms.

September is the most active month for hurricane season. Many believe that once August ends, it means the end of significant hurricanes but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Historically the most severe hurricanes occur in the month of September and 2018 is no different.

This month the trend is keeping pace with history. Hurricane Florence is strengthening and the storm’s path is still unclear to many experts. Storm chasers are predicting that Florence still has a small chance to hit land but those chances are increasing as each day passes. We could very well be seeing Hurricane Florence impacting the East Coast sometime next week.

Meanwhile, off the coast of Africa, two more storm systems have already developed and will be making their way across the Atlantic next week. Meteorologists have upgraded the chances of these systems turning into tropical storms to 90%.

All three of these storms this close together could cause significant damage to the East Coast if people are not properly prepared.

The best advice we could possibly give to everyone out there is to PREPARE EARLY. We cannot stress this enough. Most of the damage caused by hurricanes is actually through flooding. Flooding is the most common and dangerous natural disaster in the United States.

If you prepare early you increase your chances of success in avoiding flood damage significantly. The best way to prepare is to keep products that are compact, lightweight and easy to use. By having these kinds of products you won’t have to be a part of the chaotic scramble days before the storm hits. Your flood products can be stored in your house and quickly deployed without having to deal with intense labor or setup time.

We understand how scary and overwhelming a potential hurricane can be, that’s why we urge early preparation in order to put yourself in the best possible position to succeed. Take a deep breathe, make an emergency plan, stock up on flood products, and you will be the most prepared person on the block!
